South Motor Lab Helping Students Learn
In the fall, South Elementary received a $30,000 grant from Impact 100 Ozark to create a motor lab. And now, that lab is open and students, with the help of Wendi Little, are using it to “rev up our brains and get strong.”
Little, who serves as a behavior interventionist at South, said the goal of the motor lab is to help students be better prepared to learn by giving them social, emotional and physical support.
“It isn’t just a motor lab. There is an opportunity for students beyond just physical movements,” Little said. “The room offers different facets of learning in that it can serve the whole child. Whether we are in here working to reset because we’ve had some big emotions, or students come in for a celebration.”
