Roy Named South Elementary Principal for 2021-22 School Year

The Ozark Board of Education, at its May 11 meeting, voted to hire Dr. Sandra Roy as the South Elementary principal for the 2021-22 school year.

Roy began her teaching career in Ozark in 2011 as an elementary science teacher. She joined Tiger Paw Early Childhood Center as the assistant director in 2016, then became the assistant principal for South Elementary in 2019. Before joining Ozark, Roy was a second-grade teacher in Verona and first-grade and second-grade teacher in Aurora.

“Dr. Roy has proven her commitment to the students and staff of South Elementary,” said Dr. Kent Sappington, executive director of elementary learning. “I look forward to the amazing places she will take South Elementary in the future.”

Roy graduated with a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration in 2014 from Lindenwood University, a Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership from William Woods University in 2018 and a Doctorate Degree also from William Woods University in Educational Leadership in 2021.

“I am grateful for the opportunity to serve the teachers, students and parents of South Elementary in my new role as principal,” Roy said. “I look forward to continuing to build on the excellence of South, and incorporating a progressive environment for student success.”

Roy is replacing Principal Dr. Kim Fitzpatrick, who was promoted to executive director of student services.
