The Ozark High School Tiger Pride Band had six students selected for the Missouri All-State Band: Darwin Gist, 7th chair trombone, senior; Kara Ford, 2nd chair baritone, senior; Cheyann Grube, 1st chair bass clarinet, senior; Marcus Keller, 1st alternate trombone, junior; Jennifer Latta, 11th chair honorable mention clarinet, senior; and Brady Perkins, 5th chair honorable mention trombone, sophomore.
Students selected to the top All-District Band were eligible to audition for All-State Band. Ozark had 31 students qualify this year. Those 31 students auditioned with more than 1,200 other district-level students from around the state in two rounds of blind auditions on Dec. 1.
“The most we have ever had selected here at Ozark in one year was three students and that was last year. We are excited this year to double that record,” OHS Band Director Tom Meyer said. “Congratulations to the kids. They put countless hours of practice into working for this goal.”
Darwin, Kara and Cheyann will travel to the Missouri Music Education Conference in January to perform with the All-State Band.
