Jazz Bands Bring Home Hardware from Jazz Festival
Ozark High School Jazz Bands brought home some hardware on Feb. 18 after competing in the Parkview Jazz Festival as well as participating in District Jazz Bands during the same weekend.
To start off, 18 Ozark students performed with the District Jazz Bands. This is the first year the District has had two jazz bands selected to perform. Ozark made up over 40 percent of the total number of students selected for these groups.
“This is a huge accomplishment and we are so proud of them,” OHS Band Teacher Angela Love said. “They represented Ozark in an amazing way.”
In conjunction with the District Jazz events was the Parkview Jazz Festival where Ozark Jazz I and Jazz II performed and competed.
Ozark Jazz II earned an amazing second place in the second band category, and for the first time ever, Ozark Jazz I earned first place in the Open First Band Category. Ozark also earned the top soloists in each of those categories. Landon Roland won best soloist for his vibe solo among the second bands, and Elliott Judy earned best soloist for his guitar solo in the first band category.
