Due to forecasted severe spring weather on March 31, we have decided to postpone our Tiger Paw & OHS Groundbreaking Ceremonies until April 21 — same time, same place. We hope to see you April 21, and we hope the weather cooperates!

Tiger Paw Expands with Related Arts Program
You never know what you’ll see or hear when you walk into one of Dana Scott’s classes at Tiger Paw Early Childhood Center. Ozark’s littlest learners could be practicing keeping the beat by strumming a ukulele in music class, or they may be learning how to treat their books like babies in library class. In sensory lab they may be shoveling styrofoam snow or pushing each other in a bobsled laundry basket. What you do know you’ll see in Scott’s classes are students learning and having fun.

Ozark Breaks Ground on OMS Storm Shelter
It might not have been the typical groundbreaking with shovels moving dirt in the sunshine, but the rain didn’t damper the excitement as Ozark School District officially broke ground March 23 on the Ozark Middle School storm shelter and new entrance, a project part of the $19 million no-tax-increase bond issue voters approved on the April 5, 2022, ballot.

Ozark FCCLA Makes Mark at State
Over spring break, members of Ozark High School’s FCCLA competed in their state competition and finished with some impressive awards. Of the students who competed, five are advancing to nationals which will be held in Denver in July.

Ozark Educators Rising Bring Home Hardware from State
Over spring break, members of Ozark High School’s Educators Rising traveled to Westminster College in Fulton, Missouri for the state competition. All 14 students who competed placed in the top five of their event with six placing first overall in their event.

Ozark Band, Choir Fare Well at District Solo and Ensemble Festival
More than 45 Ozark High School students are state bound after receiving exemplary ratings at the 2022-23 District Solo and Ensemble Festival March 11 at Clever High School. State competition is held at the University of Missouri in late April.

Kiwanis Donates to Ozark’s Operation Half Pint
The Kiwanis Club of Christian County recently donated $2,250 to Ozark School District's Operation Half Pint. Operation Half Pint allows students who qualify for free/reduced lunch to have an extra milk or snack milk even when they don't have the money on their school account to pay for it.

The Ozark Board of Education, during a special board meeting March 10, voted to hire Karen Capen as East Elementary principal for the 2023-24 school year.

Wallace Named North Principal for 2023-24 School Year
The Ozark Board of Education, during a special board meeting March 10, voted to hire Dr. Zeb Wallace as the Ozark North Elementary principal for the 2023-24 school year. Wallace has served as Ozark Middle School assistant principal since the 2020-21 school year.

Ozark Scores 87.3% on APR
The Department of Elementary & Secondary Education released the state’s Annual Performance Reports for the 2021-22 school year, and Ozark School District scored 87.3 percent. Assistant Superintendent of Learning Dr. Craig Carson said he is proud of Ozark’s score and the hard work that students and staff do every day.

Kindergarten Screening Registration Now Open
Children learn and develop — academically, socially and physically — at different paces. That’s why having your child participate in kindergarten screening is so important. Kindergarten screening is free to any child in Ozark School District who will be 5 years old on or before July 31. Register by calling the elementary school your child will attend.

Ozark Preschool Screenings Set March 20-24, April 24-28
Children who live in Ozark School District may be eligible to attend one of the Early Childhood Preschool programs, and can participate in a free preschool screening. Slated March 20-24 and again April 24-28, screenings are open for children who will be 3 years old on or before July 31, 2023, and children who are 4 years old.

OHS Archery has Successful Season; 18 Qualify for State
March 4 concluded the regular season for Ozark Tigers Archery Team, with a second place team trophy win at the Sparta Tournament. This is only the third season for Ozark to have an Archery Team, with its inaugural year in 2020-21. This year 13 Ozark students qualified for state in Bullseye competition, and five students qualified in 3D target archery.
