On Sept. 17, 1787, the Founding Fathers signed the U.S. Constitution. Students across the District did various activities to learn about our U.S. Constitution.

24 Ozark Students Selected for District Honor Choir
On Sept. 16, 34 Ozark choir students auditioned for the 2023 South Central All-District Honor Choir. Twenty-four students were selected, with seven students in the top 25 of participants. These seven students are eligible to move on to all-state auditions.

District Summer Projects include OJH Gym, East Roof; What’s Next?
If you drove by Ozark Junior High or East Elementary schools this summer, you may have noticed some large dumpsters outside and construction workers onsite. Both buildings underwent major upgrades: East got a roof replacement while OJH revamped its main gym.

Ozark Receives State Innovation Waiver for MAP Testing
Ozark School District is one of 20 public schools across the state to be granted an Innovation Waiver by the Missouri State Board of Education. Although students may continue to take the MAP (Missouri Assessment Program) tests over the next three years, the waiver allows Ozark to break away from the traditional accountability for MAP.

Ozark School Board Starts Superintendent Search
The 2023-24 school year is underway for the Ozark School District, and following an August special Board of Education meeting, a search for a new superintendent is underway as well. The Board of Education voted to contract the Missouri School Boards’ Association to facilitate the District’s superintendent search.

Help us congratulate Zack Owens on being named the new girls soccer head coach! The Board of Education approved Owens' extra duty assignment on Aug. 22, which is effective for the 2023-2024 school year.

Ozark SRO, Principal Recognized for Life-Saving Response
On Aug. 22, the Ozark Board of Education recognized Ozark East Elementary Principal Karen Capen and Ozark School Resource Officer John Wilkerson with the Ozark School Hero Award for taking actions that helped save the life of an Ozark parent.

Congratulations to Ozark teachers Jody Dalton and Shawn Saylor for each receiving a Classroom Grant from the Missouri Retired Teachers Foundation. Ozark received two of the 12 grants awarded to schools across 10 counties.

Ozark School District held its Third Annual OZcar Awards ceremony Aug. 14, kicking off the 2023-24 school year with a districtwide meeting. Five district winners received awards, along with a community member for Volunteer of the Year.

The NEW PowerSchool Parent Portal is officially open! That means, registration is now open!
Parents, this is different from past years. Before you can register your child, you MUST create your new PowerSchool Parent Portal. You will (or may have already) receive an email with an access code and password for EACH child in your household (example, if you have 3 children, you will receive 3 separate emails with a unique code for each child).

Ozark’s Mayes Receives School Business Specialist Certification
The Missouri Association of School Business Officials announced Ozark School District Payroll Specialist Stephanie Mayes as one of its graduates of the School Business Specialist Certification Program. The SBS program is a two-year intensive course designed to prepare and grow current school district employees for the business office.
