The Ozark Board of Education, during a special board meeting March 10, voted to hire Dr. Zeb Wallace as the Ozark North Elementary principal for the 2023-24 school year. Wallace has served as Ozark Middle School assistant principal since the 2020-21 school year.

Kindergarten Screening Registration Now Open
Children learn and develop — academically, socially and physically — at different paces. That’s why having your child participate in kindergarten screening is so important. Kindergarten screening is free to any child in Ozark School District who will be 5 years old on or before July 31. Register by calling the elementary school your child will attend.

Ozark Preschool Screenings Set March 20-24, April 24-28
Children who live in Ozark School District may be eligible to attend one of the Early Childhood Preschool programs, and can participate in a free preschool screening. Slated March 20-24 and again April 24-28, screenings are open for children who will be 3 years old on or before July 31, 2023, and children who are 4 years old.

Century-Old Photo Recreated at Tiger Paw
One hundred years ago, more than 200 Ozark School District students and staff stood in front of the newly-constructed school building just east of the downtown square and posed for a photo. On Oct. 26, 2022, an entire century later, Ozark’s littlest learners, along with staff, administrators and Board of Education members, did the exact same thing, commemorating and celebrating the renovation of the historic structure that now serves as Tiger Paw Early Childhood Center.

OHS Football Players Mentor, Inspire Elementary Students through Adopt-A-Tiger Program
OHS football players are teaming up with Ozark elementary teachers to visit the classroom and interact with students. Typically the players read a book, follow up with a project or play a team building game in the classroom. And, sometimes they even go outside and throw the football around.

Zones of Regulation
In order to help students identify and manage their behaviors, Tiger Paw Early Childhood Center and the four elementary schools are utilizing The Zones of Regulation® curriculum (or “The Zones” for short). The Zones of Regulation focuses on self-regulation. Self-regulation can go by many names, such as self-control, self-management and impulse control.

Ozark South Receives $30,000 Impact 100 Grant for Motor Lab
Being in elementary school isn’t always easy, something Wendi Little, behavior interventionist at South Elementary, knows all too well. That’s one of many reasons why Little, along with South Elementary Principal Dr. Sandra Roy and Director of Student Services Dr. Kim Fitzpatrick, are so excited to receive a $30,000 grant from Impact 100 Ozark to create a motor lab.

Tiger Paw Ribbon Cutting Celebrates 100-Year History
On Sept. 15, 2022, 100 years after the building was constructed, Ozark School District, along with members of the Ozark community and Chamber of Commerce, cut the official ribbon to Tiger Paw Early Childhood Center, celebrating the renovation of the historic structure and expansion of the early childhood program.

South Science Teacher Hopes to Inspire Students with $5,000 Grant
Walking into the science classroom at South Elementary, you never know what you’ll see. Students may be examining seashells with a magnifying glass, or dissecting owl pellets, or building a contraption to keep an egg safe when traveling down a ramp. Whatever students are doing, it’s fun and engaging, and science teacher Leslie Thomas hopes the $5,000 grant she received through Project Lead the Way will give her students even more hands-on experience.
