OHS Auditorium Receives Upgrades Ahead of Fall Theatre Production
The Ozark High School Auditorium is receiving a series of exciting upgrades — just in time for the Theatre Department’s fall production of “Tuck Everlasting.”
The new house lighting and sound system is ready for the fall play this weekend, Nov. 13-16, with upgraded stage lighting scheduled for completion in December.
“We’re always excited to make improvements that enhance our students’ experience,” said Executive Director of Operations Richie Fretwell. “These auditorium upgrades will elevate not only the quality of our performances and events, but also the overall experience for every student who uses this space.”
The new house lighting system will provide greater flexibility, allowing lighting to be controlled from both the lighting booth and the stage, offering greater efficiency and creative options for student performances and school events.
OHS Vocal Music Teacher Connor Gately said the upgrades will play a tremendous role in the continued success of Ozark’s programs.
“Whether on or off the stage, these kids all work incredibly hard and with a passion that is truly inspiring to witness as an educator,” he said. “I'm glad that they will now have the advanced tools and technology needed to even further their already impressive work. I'm so proud to work for a district that continues to invest and pour into our amazing students. There is no limit to what Ozark students can achieve!”
Funding for the auditorium improvements comes from surplus funds from the 2022 bond designated for capital improvement projects. The bond provided for the construction of three storm shelters across the district and an indoor activities building at the high school. All of those projects were completed on time and under budget in the fall of 2024.
With approximately $5 million remaining — earmarked specifically for brick-and-mortar improvements — the Ozark Board of Education identified several additional projects, including new playgrounds at Tiger Paw, refinishing the tennis courts, updating the baseball and softball fields, replacing chillers in two buildings, installing a video scoreboard at the stadium, and completing roof repairs at Ozark High School. Many of these projects were completed during the summer of 2025.

Students will perform “Tuck Everlasting” at 7 p.m. Nov. 13-15, and at 2 p.m. Nov. 16. Tickets are available at http://bit.ly/3WWEvmt.
