OHS Receives $5,000 Grant for CCP Teacher Training
Since launching the Academy Model in 2021, Ozark High School has been working to provide students meaningful career exploration and real-world experiences through Client Connected Projects (CCPs). And now, thanks to a $5,000 Coover/Rural Schools Partnership Career Exploration Grant, the high school can bring real-world learning to more students through teacher training.
“These projects engage students in solving authentic problems alongside industry professionals, nonprofit organizations and community partners,” OHS Principal Dr. Philip Witt said in the grant proposal. “Through CCPs, students gain hands-on experience, develop critical problem-solving skills, and expand their professional networks.”
Witt said the high school will use the grant money during the 2025-26 school year to provide teachers with a two-day professional development CCP training designed to help them effectively integrate CCPs into their courses.
“Teachers will be guided step-by-step through the process, equipped with practical tools and strategies to create dynamic learning experiences,” Witt said. “They will have the training with a project tailored to their classroom needs, using templates, collaborative teamwork and personalized design time.”
The grant money will allow OHS to send 10 teachers to the CCP training, while six Academy leaders and administrators will attend using District funds. The grant money will also be used for career pathway signage for classrooms as well as buildings.
“With this grant funding, we can take our Academy Model to the next level by expanding teacher training, strengthening CCPs, and enhancing career-focused communication across our schools,” said Executive Director of Secondary Learning Gerald Chambers. “These improvements will ensure that every Ozark student is equipped with the skills, knowledge and connections necessary for success in their future careers.”
This grant is made possible by the Louis L and Julia Dorothy Coover Charitable Foundation.
