Ozark names Sooter to Lead Junior High Starting 24-25 School Year
The Ozark Board of Education, at its Feb. 22 meeting, voted to hire Dr. Amanda Sooter as the Ozark Junior High principal for the 2024-25 school year.
“Reflecting on the journey that has led me to the role of principal at Ozark Junior High fills me with deep appreciation for the support and investment of the Ozark School District,” Sooter said.
Sooter currently serves as an assistant principal at Ozark Junior High, and has been in education for nearly 15 years. She joined Ozark School District in 2013 and taught eighth grade English at the junior high until 2019, when she was named an assistant principal for the building.
“I am thrilled to continue the momentum and keep the ball rolling,” she said. “It's an honor and privilege to be a part of this extraordinary building, and I cannot wait to begin this next chapter together.”
Sooter has a bachelor’s degree in secondary/middle school English education and a master’s in administration. She obtained her doctorate in curriculum and instruction from Evangel University.
Executive Director of Secondary Learning Gerald Chambers said he is looking forward to seeing how Sooter leads OJH.
“Dr. Sooter is well respected by the staff and students at Ozark Junior High. As I visited with the staff at the junior high, there was an overwhelming response of positive feedback regarding Dr. Sooter,” Chambers said. “She will be able to hit the ground running even before she officially takes over in July. We are looking forward to her instructional leadership and the relationships she has built and will continue to build with the staff.”
Sooter will replace Dr. Philip Link who was recently named the new executive director of human resources for Ozark Schools.
“We are grateful for Dr. Link’s dedication to the junior high as a teacher, assistant principal, and principal,” Chambers said. “We're excited for his recent promotion to Executive Director of Human Resources in our district.”
Sooter will step into her new role July 1, 2024.
