MAESP Names 2 Ozark Elementary Administrators Principals of the Year
The Missouri Association of Elementary School Principals named two Ozark administrators, Dr. Sandra Roy and Kristy Richart, as principal of the year and assistant principal of the year, respectively, for the Southwest Region for 2024.
Roy, who has served as South Elementary principal since 2021, was named Exemplary New Principal of the Year. According to MAESP, the award is open to elementary principals in their second or third year as a principal and who “demonstrate evidence of outstanding contributions to the community and the education profession. Before taking the helm at South Elementary, Roy served as assistant principal at South and Tiger Paw Early Childhood Center.
“It is truly an honor to work at South with the best staff who are dedicated and committed to seeing every student reach their fullest potential,” Roy said. “I am truly blessed everyday by our students, their families and my staff."
Richart, who has served as North Elementary assistant principal since 2021, was named Outstanding Assistant Principal. According to MAESP, this award is presented to an assistant principal who demonstrates “evidence of outstanding support and contributions to the school community and the potential to contribute to the education profession as a school principal.”
“I am blessed to be surrounded with staff members that come to work each day dedicated to making a difference in the lives of their students,” Richart said. “We are a family at North committed to doing what is best for kids each and every day.”
Dr. Kent Sappington, executive director of elementary learning, said neither of these awards are a surprise to him.
“Both Sandra and Kristy are two of the best administrators I have had the pleasure of working with,” he said. “You will never find another leader with more kindness and compassion than Dr. Roy. She truly cares about the people under her charge. Mrs. Richart is calm, cool and collected. She is not easily shaken. She takes everything thrown at her in stride. She is a steady leader that people want to follow. I am so proud of both of these leaders. They make my job very easy!”
