Inclement Weather Procedures
In case Ozark School District needs to cancel school, use late start procedures or early release procedures due to inclement weather, we want you to be informed of the process. Student and faculty safety is the primary concern in making the call for cancellation versus late start or early release.
A late start will only be used when roads will be safe to travel within the two-hour period.
There are many factors involved in making weather decisions such as amount of precipitation, type of precipitation, current road conditions, air temperature, and possible further accumulations.
Typically there is a National Weather Service conference call at 4:00 a.m. Our administrators take part in that call, then the road team begins driving roads soon after.
School Cancellation
- The community will be notified via automated phone calls, text messages, app notifications, District social media, website and television.
- Our goal is to make the decision and share it with families by 5:15 a.m. Sometimes, however, that is not possible.
- Athletics and activities will be assessed based on the situation. If an event is canceled, participants will be notified by their coach/sponsor and information will be posted on the individual school social media.
Alternative Methods of Instruction
When the entire school district is closed due to inclement weather, we will implement AMI (virtual learning) for students after the fourth day of closure. These days are not consecutive. AMI will be used for students attending Ozark School District in-person and is completely separate from the online/hybrid options through MOCAP.
Here is an FAQ that explains AMI.
Early Release
In circumstances where we must release early, our goal is to provide two hours advance notification to allow parents time to make the necessary arrangements.
- The community will be notified via automated phone calls, text messages, app notifications, District social media, website and television.
- Transportation - Buses will run in the same order as normal dismissal.
- Tiger Care After Hours - Operates until normal time - 6:00 p.m.
- Athletics and Activities - events will be assessed based on the situation. If an event is canceled, participants will be notified by their coach/sponsor and information will be posted on the individual school social media.
