3, 2, 1, Blastoff: Tiger Paw Students Learn Social Thinking Skills

The commons area at Tiger Paw Early Childhood Center looks a bit different the week of Oct. 16. And if you happen to stop by, you may witness something a bit different, and a lot of fun! Students are taking an adventure in space as they are learning to think with their eyes.

Taught by Tiger Paw Speech and Language Teacher Kerri Loveland, students are learning to use their eyes to gather information about what other people are thinking about, feeling and happening around them. Students had a great time using their imagination, visiting different planets and even finding aliens.

The hands-on lesson is part of the We Thinkers series that Tiger Paw students participate in regularly. The idea is to teach students social thinking concepts, which in turn helps students learn the underlying thinking behind behavior. The Thinking with Your Eyes lesson will help students understand that there is a purpose for observing others and their environment. Seeing something is more than just looking at it, thinking is involved.
