Kindergarten Academy
Kindergarten Academy ED-venture
K-Academy is offered to students entering kindergarten in August 2026. Incoming kindergarten students will have a BLAST at this summer's EDventure. Students will have the opportunity to participate in fun lessons and activities to get them ready for kindergarten. Students will work to develop their fine and gross motor skills, build social skills and friendships, improve listening and following direction skills, and learn how to navigate school prior to starting in the fall!

First Grade - Camping in the Ozarks
Who likes camping? Do you want to be a successful Ozark camper? Students will explore the aspects of camping, such as being prepared for the Ozark elements of weather, terrain and wildlife. They will also research what you need to camp and what you do when camping. Activities will include questioning, research, creating and sharing.
Second Grade - Mysteries and Mayhem
So, you want to be a detective? Join our team as an Odd Squad agent investigating mysteries and strange happenings. Together we will find clues, gather information, organize facts and use reasoning to make sense of odd happenings and restore order. Get ready to solve mysteries, follow hidden clues and put your Sherlock Holmes abilities to the test
Third Grade - Creating Connections with Continents and Culture
Come travel the world with us this summer school,
we will learn about different continents and what their people do!
From customs and music, to food and dress,
your adventure will truly be the best!
Study the pyramids of Egypt and make jewelry of kings and queens,
travel from the Great Barrier Reef to the top of Mt. Everest’s greens.
Make music instruments, boomerangs, and aboriginal art,
try foods from other countries and that’s only a start!
So, grab your passports and we’ll do the rest-
for this is one journey you won’t want to miss!
Fourth Grade - All American Road Trip
Pack your bags and get ready for this All-American Road Trip! Using books, maps, and technology, we will explore our National Parks, Missouri caves, and other points of interest along the way as we map out our route, learn more about the landforms that make up our beautiful country, and create products to show our understanding.

Each summer school site will host a specialized program for 3rd and 4th grade in addition to our regular curriculum. Enrollment is limited for each program and is dependent upon early registration. (max of 40 students per summer school site - 20 from each of the 4 elementary buildings)
Nature is all around us! Join us as we explore and experience Missouri’s ecosystems through fun engaging lessons and activities. This class will include two field trips. One trip to learn about the Ozark Watershed and one fishing trip.

Case Closed
Evaluate, Solve, and Escape! This interactive learning experience supports students in working together to search for clues, solving cases and puzzles to unlock the clue of the day. By the end of the session students will share their theories of what happened and vote on who closed the case. The structure provides opportunities for students to acquire learning skills while having fun! Activities and skills may include: problem solving, critical thinking, leading, note taking, riddles, puzzles, and scavenger hunts.
Debate
Do you like winning arguments? How about persuading others to agree with you? Do you think you can compete against and BEAT the best arguers in class? Prove it! Join the Summer School Debate Team and see if you have what it takes to convince the class that you’re RIGHT! By the way, basketball is better than football, and burgers beat pizza. Try and convince me otherwise…
Fantastic Minibeasts
Insects are an integral part of our survival and it’s important to learn more about them. Students will experience the development of butterflies in all stages as they hatch in two weeks. We will grow our own milkweed plants students can take home. Guest speakers will include real world scientists — a local entomologist, bee keeper and a survivalist. We will also study insects in other cultures. Students will have the opportunity to eat insects as is the custom of many in other countries. Students will learn what insects are safe to eat in a survival situation. Students will also explore the arts with their insects, writing a short sci-fi thriller using stop animation with iPads and creating other art pieces.

We will work on learning the fundamentals of kitchen safety, prep, and actual meal creations, while sampling our delicious meals and baked goodies. You will be able to recreate these recipes for your families at home and WOW them with your chef like skills!

In a galaxy far, far away... wait, just kidding! Let's explore the mysteries of space right from our own classroom and bring it to life for others to enjoy. We will learn and explore all of those fun things about space we always want to learn about in class, and then we will get to present our learning to others in a creative and artistic way. Let's bring art and science to life in Space Exploration!
Lifetime of Movies
Come along on an adventure through classic and modern movies with us. Learn about when, where, how and why films were created. Was the film set in England? Then let's research the culture, the food and the way of life when it was filmed. Did it take a long time for a film to finally make it to the big screen? Was it a hit right off the bat? Or did it come to life after a rerelease? Everyday we will watch and discuss a movie in class.

Do you like being outside and playing FRISBEE GOLF, SPIKEBALL, PICKLEBALL ,OR GOING FISHING? This class is designed to introduce students to various activities they can perform alone or in small groups. These activities can be played in highly competitive situations or enjoyed in recreational settings. This class will focus on introducing students to activities not always found in school settings.
OMS Summer Singers
Do you like to sing? Do you want to work on improving your vocal skills? Do you want to get more comfortable singing in front of people? If you said yes to any of these questions, you should join the OMS Summer Singers! This will be a fun and relaxed opportunity to be introduced to singing in a choir! During this class, you will learn basic singing skills such as singing in unison and harmony, and how to follow a choral score. We will learn and perform a variety of well-known songs for students and staff, as well as put on a concert during the last week of summer school where parents will be invited to come and watch! We will also take a trip to a nursing home to sing for the residents. Bringing joy to others through singing is such a rewarding experience! Digital media is here to stay! Have you noticed how often you are asked to listen for information more than ever before? Podcasts are a new genre of literacy that you will learn to navigate and create. We will listen and notice what techniques are effectively used to entertain, evoke emotion, inform, and persuade. This class will take you through the process of exploring a variety of topics which will lead to writing scripts and recording original podcasts. We will focus on communicating effectively using written and spoken language. You will have the opportunity to prepare and publish a variety of podcasts including informational, personal stories, and opinion pieces.
Physical Education
Science In Fiction
If you like books, comic books, movies made from books/comic books, wondering how those Superhero powers work and snacks, then the Science in Fiction summer school class is the one for you. Science in Fiction can make us think, wonder and most importantly ask what if and why. Students will discuss science principles found in books, comic books and movies that are based on books. They will get to write and perform their own short science “in” fiction story. Topics of discussion and exploration will be superhero powers and the science behind them, how to survive a natural disaster and tackle the age-old debate of which is better: The book or the movie.
Visual Arts
Creative problem solving is at the heart of this visual arts course. Students will explore visual art through a variety of projects using different mediums and techniques. Students will gain confidence and proficiency in the visual arts while reinforcing elements of math and ELA. Students will also explore the history, analysis, critique and interpretation of art while creating unique works of art.
OMS: Our Majh Squad
Mahjong provides students with a meaningful, hands-on opportunity to strengthen mathematical reasoning, pattern recognition and strategic thinking. Students have to plan, focus, and problem solve. The game promotes a growth mindset because they have to learn from mistakes and change their strategies throughout the game. It's a four person game, but students can work in pairs. It encourages respectful conversation, turn-taking, and supports social-emotional learning that is SCREEN-FREE!
Not only is it a great game for all, it's also an opportunity to learn about another and its rich history. Students will undoubtedly be engaged while allowing natural differentiation among learners.
Summer School Survival Basics
In this 15-day Survival Skills Course, you’ll learn how to build shelters, tie real Eagle Scout knots, purify water, read maps, send emergency radio messages, and practice first aid. You’ll explore wild edible plants with an expert and take on team survival challenges where quick thinking matters. If you love hands-on learning, teamwork, and real-world adventure, this is the class for you!
Sustainable Art
Sustainable Art is a hands-on summer enrichment course for 5th and 6th grade students that blends visual arts, science, environmental awareness, and creative problem-solving. Students will explore how artists use recycled, reused, and natural materials to create meaningful artwork while learning how art can promote sustainability and environmental responsibility. Through guided projects, discussion, and reflection, students will design and create original artworks using eco-friendly materials while developing artistic skills and environmental literacy.
Nature Unleashed
Crafting Creativity
Crafting Creativity is a hands-on arts and crafts course designed to give students opportunities to explore creative projects they do not typically experience in a traditional art class. The course emphasizes experimentation, problem-solving, and creativity through a variety of tactile, student-centered projects. Students will work with diverse materials and techniques while learning to plan, create, revise, and reflect on their work.
Old School Activities
Have you ever wanted to know what you would do if you did not have technology daily? What kind of games would you play?In this hands-on course, you will explore “Old School” games that build important skills and knowledge for you each and every day. Each day introduces a new game, activity, or skill, where students learn a bit of its history, how to play safely and correctly, and then jump right in and practice. From jump rope, hopscotch, and kick-the-can to yo-yos, jacks, and card skills, students will discover how simple games can challenge both the body and the brain. Activities are designed to be inclusive, active, and fun, helping students build confidence, teamwork, and physical awareness, all while having a great time.
TableTop Adventures
Do you like games where your choices matter? Do you enjoy creating characters, solving problems, and working as a team? In this class, you’ll play tabletop role-playing games like Dungeons & Dragons and Masks, where students work together to tell a story and overcome challenges. You’ll create your own hero, explore imaginative worlds, and make decisions that shape what happens next. There are no boards or screens—just teamwork, creativity, and dice. This class isn’t about winning or losing. It’s about thinking strategically, communicating with others, and using your imagination. You’ll practice problem-solving, teamwork, reading, and speaking skills while playing guided adventures designed just for 5th and 6th graders. No experience is needed—new players are welcome!
OJH Courses + Registration
- Summer school classes for incoming 7th and 8th grade students are in-person at OJH.
- Summer school at OJH is divided into two terms: May 28 - June 8 & June 9 - June 18.
- Students have the opportunity to participate in two classes per term — a morning class and an afternoon class, also referred to as AM session and PM session
- Students do not have to take two classes a day.
- Students who only participate in a morning class must be picked up by 11:10.
- Students who only participate in an afternoon class cannot be dropped off until 10:50.
- Athletes can join the classes they are enrolled in before/after summer conditioning
- All incoming 8th graders must have DTAP and Meningitis immunization before attending summer school. Please provide a copy of your child’s up-to-date shot record to the Junior High Office. For questions on immunizations contact 582-5902.
- A school breakfast and lunch are available for free.
- Breakfast begins at 7:00.
- Lunch begins at 11:00
- Students may bring their lunch instead of getting lunch from the cafeteria.

Ready for an epic summer adventure? In The Hero’s Quest, you’ll explore myths, movies like The Lion King and Moana, and create your own hero stories. Discover what makes a hero, design daring quests, and bring your ideas to life with fun projects. If you love stories, movies, and creativity, this is the summer class for you!
Forensics Fun
Plan on having lots of “FUN” with Forensics. Students will work through mystery scenarios, taking on roles like detectives, forensic analysts, and suspects, practice evidence gathering, analysis, and deduction. This class is all about engaging in hands-on activities, simulated crime scene investigations, analyzing mysteries, making comparisons, laboratory EXPERIMENTS and more.

History of Warfare
Are you interested in investigating battles and wars throughout history? In History of Warfare we will cover significant battles and warfare; from spears in 490 BC to tanks in World War 2. We’ll look at maps, graphs, and charts to better understand various battles throughout Western history. We will work to get a “ground level” view of the events and understand how historians piece together what happened.
Podcasts: Your Voice, Your Story!
Comedy, Society & Culture, True Crime, News, Opinions! There is a podcast for everything. Have you ever wondered why one podcast about a topic is more popular than another about the same thing? Learn what goes into making a podcast great. We will listen and notice what techniques are effectively used to entertain, evoke emotion, inform, and persuade. This class will take you through the process of exploring a variety of topics while we critique podcasts which will lead to writing scripts and recording your very own podcast! Get ready to unlock the power of words! We'll dive into the art of communicating clearly and confidently with your writing and speaking. - Due to field trips and class activities, this is an all day course. If you sign up for Wonders of the Ozarks, you will not have a second class during that term. Some extra fees will apply.

Teamwork and critical thinking are at the heart of every adventure.

Are you looking for a first-person shell shocking experience? Can you keep an egg from breaking when dropped from the roof (check out Mark Rober)? Have you ever hatched an egg? What happens if you dissolve the shell of an egg? Who knew how many things you could do with eggs? You will if you take this fun-packed course! Join us in exploring the incredible edible egg!

- Students may take two courses.
- All courses are 1/2 credit.
- All incoming 12th grade students must have the TDAP and Meningitis A immunization or an exemption on file before attending summer school. Please provide a copy of the immunizations to the school nurse before the beginning of summer school. Please contact your student’s school nurse for questions.
- Driver's Education - Driver's Education is for grades 10-12, costs $100 and contains classroom and driving components. Students must be 15 years old to take this course. The student must have a valid Missouri Driver’s Permit prior to the first day of summer school in order to take the driving portion of this course. Additionally, students enrolling in this course may be no more than one credit behind in required graduation credits.

This course is designed to help students regain a half credit of failed English I. English I is designed to extend the student’s English education in the following areas: composition, including proofreading and editing; research; vocabulary; literary analysis; test-taking skills; speaking and listening. The class is an excellent opportunity for students to polish communication skills needed for the Twenty-first Century.
English II

Creative Writing
Creative Writing (½ Language Arts Credit) - (Entering Grades 11-12) Online HSS0105V
This course is a study of creative writing, such as short stories, poetry, and nonfiction. The course will focus on a topic of composition, including, but not limited to, sound, imagery, voice, and style. Students will study mentor texts, compose, revise, and self-reflect during the semester. Writing assignments will be aimed at encouraging creative thinking and peer feedback. Students will read essays, stories, and poetry by well-known authors to develop a writing style and enrich the creative writing process. The course will culminate in a major writing piece with a final multimedia project, as well as an online publication. Through the study of creative writing, students should complete this course with techniques of composition that can be used in various forms of writing.
This class is an elective English course for students who want to practice and hone creative writing skills. As a result of studying various forms of creative writing, composing, editing, and publishing work, student writing should improve. In addition, an appreciation of creative writing as a literary form will also be gained. Each class will require reading assignments, published blog entries, completed writing responses, peer reflection, and self-reflection. Smaller writing pieces will build toward the end of unit major writing pieces/projects.
Holocaust Memory
Holocaust Memory (½ Language Arts Credit) - (Entering Grades 9-12) Seated HSS0116
Holocaust Literature is the study of the Jewish response to the Holocaust through the lens of non-fiction literature. Students will read works by Anne Frank, Elie Wiesel, and Andrew Maraniss, whether in excerpts or in their entirety. Students will read poetry, biographies, descriptions, etc., from Holocaust survivors based on their experiences and testimonials. Students will learn about the rise of fascism and how “upstanders” helped to end the suffering that World War II inflicted, especially on those of Jewish descent. Students will also learn how to respond to non-fiction pieces in their own reflections and writings.
Word Study

This course is designed to help students develop a more varied, more substantial vocabulary. Possessing a rich treasury of words builds confidence in one’s ability to communicate and to be accepted as a mature person. As students spend time mastering new words, they will discover the pleasure of recognition and understanding when confronted with challenging words in their listening, reading, and conversing.

This course is designed to help students regain a half credit of failed American History. This course will continue to assess the progress, the accomplishments, and the challenges facing the United States from the Civil War through World War II. Students will cover the political, social, and economic developments, including westward expansion, migrations, and the growth of industry, and analyze the wars of the 20th century.
Intro to American Government
Intro. to American Government (½ Credit American Govt.) - Seated HSS7008
This course is designed to help students regain a half credit of failed Intro to American Government. This course takes an interesting look at the foundation of the federal, state, and local governments and the transitions that have taken place up to the current time. The course discusses the rights of Americans and how the government works for the citizens. In addition, civic duty and responsibility are key components in this course. This course includes an EOC exam, along with the state-required US and Missouri Constitution exams.

This course is designed to help students regain a half credit of failed Geometry. Students will have an opportunity to develop logical thinking and exploration of topics connecting algebra and geometry. Students will apply inductive and deductive reasoning to undefined terms, definitions, postulates, and theorems to reach conclusions about geometric figures.
Algrebra II
Algebra II (½ Math Credit) - Seated HSS3004
This course is designed to help students regain a half credit of failed Algebra II. This course provides an opportunity to learn extended algebraic topics in order to develop reasoning and problem-solving abilities. Students will enhance their existing algebra skills and develop skills working with polynomial functions, rational expressions, irrational and complex numbers, logarithms, probability, and statistics.

This course is designed to help students regain a half credit of failed Physical Science. This is an exciting class that will give you a foundation in physics and chemistry with lab work and many hands-on activities. This class is offered at the freshman level and is a good foundational science class. This course is offered 1st block only.
Biology
Environmental Science
Environmental Science (½ Science Credit) - (Entering Grades 11-12) Seated HS0602
This course is focused on the study of our global environment and current issues relating to it. Students will study the interactions between the living and nonliving parts of our world. They will study the nutrient, energy, and geologic cycles that are constantly affecting our environment. Basic characteristics of the world’s biomes will also be studied.
Note: This class may not be accepted as a Lab Science credit for college admissions. It is important to get specific admissions information from college websites.
Earth & Space Science
Earth and Space Science (½ Science Credit) - (Entering Grades 11-12) Online HS0611V
Earth and Space Science is designed to introduce students to Earth’s systems and our place in the Universe. Major topics in Geology, Climatology, Oceanography, and Astronomy will be covered. Students completing this course will leave with a basic, yet practical understanding of the material and be better prepared for college-level science classes.

Personal Finance
Personal Finance (Required ½ Graduation Credit) - (Entering Grades 11-12) Online HSS0505V
This course will provide students with practical life skills needed daily. With online resources such as Everfi Financial Literacy and Dave Ramsey’s Foundations U, students will gain an understanding that will set them up to be successful in their future. Throughout this course, students will get a further understanding of the following topics: income and taxes, checking and savings accounts, using credit wisely, managing money, investing, purchasing insurance, housing, buying cars, and more. Through this course, students gain a basic understanding of finance and are more confident and competent in making financial decisions when out on their own. This course may be taken with permission to recover up to half a credit of Personal Finance.

Fitness (½ PE or Elective Credit) - (Entering Grades 9-12) Online HSS0412V
Students in this class will learn and gain an understanding of the need for lifetime physical fitness. Students will participate in group and individual activities to gain knowledge on how to develop all areas of health-related fitness. Students will need access to the internet, a computer and be able to videotape. This class will encompass learning a variety of ways to workout. Students will record workouts, log data, and create and design their own workouts.

The health curriculum focuses on the mental, physical, social, and emotional areas of health. These health areas and current health issues are studied to help students make responsible decisions toward their overall wellness.

ACT Prep
ACT Prep (½ Elective Credit) - (Entering Grades 10-12) Online HSS0714V
Prerequisite: recommended to have taken Algebra II or Concepts of Algebra II.
The purpose of the ACT Prep component of this class is to prepare students for the ACT Test. As future college students striving for college admission, the ACT score can be a very important element to the admissions process. The course will allow students to prepare in a structured instructional environment for their best possible test performance.
CCE Summer School/CCE work
CCE Summer school/CCE work (½ -1 ½ Practical Art Credit, depending on work hours) - (Entering Grades 10-12) Online HSS0508V
Students should be employed in work or an internship that directly contributes to the development of the competencies necessary for successful employment in the field they have identified. The student must be concurrently enrolled in the CCE Summer School course to be accepted into the CCE work program. This course is a cooperative effort between the Ozark R-VI school district and area businesses. The student’s employer and the course instructor work together to teach the skills and attitude required to be successfully employed in today’s labor market. Students will complete detailed resumes, cover letters and participate in problem-based learning revolving around employment and/or internships.
Driver's Education
Driver’s Education (½ General Elective Credit) - (Entering Grades 10-12) Seated HSS0524 or Online HSS0524V
This course is designed to help young and future drivers learn the skills, responsibilities, and behaviors required to operate a motor vehicle. In addition, this course will prepare students for the Missouri instruction permit test. Students must be 15 years old to take this course. The student must have a valid Missouri Driver’s Permit prior to the first day of summer school in order to take the driving portion of this course. The number of allotted driving seats will be determined by the number of driving instructors available. At this time, we anticipate 30 seats being available. Additionally, students enrolling in this course may be no more than one credit behind in required graduation credits. Driving time will be provided with a course cost of $100.00 per student.
Art Survey
Art Survey (1/2 Fine Arts Credit) - (Entering Grades 9-12) Online HSS0924V
Art survey students will be introduced to a variety of art methods, processes, and media. Students will also explore the historical, cultural, and economic aspects of art. By studying the arts through theory and practice, students will gain a full understanding of the purpose of art in the world.

Camp Tiger Paw Info + Registration

- Camp Tiger Paw offers a summer curriculum for children ages 3 to 5 years old.
- Camp Tiger Paw is a tuition-based program.
- Children must be toilet trained and be 3 years of age by May 28, in order to attend.
- Camp Tiger Paw offers children the opportunity to extend their knowledge of the world around them through exposure to science, exploring nature, engaging in arts/crafts, and exploring friendships.
- Times are 7:40 a.m. - 3:10 p.m.
- Breakfast is at 7:40 a.m.; lunch at 11:15 a.m.
