  • ELA Goal:  Improve overall MAP scores to exceed our 2016 scores, reaching 75% proficient and advanced.

    1. Continue to teach units that align our ELA Missouri Learning Expectations to our curriculum and assessments.
    2. Use eValuate data to drive instruction and provide differentiated learning opportunities to students.
    3. Improve our reading and writing instruction through work with a trainer from Missouri Reading Initiative.

    1. Align units and instruction with Missouri Learning Expectations.
    2. Work with math coach to improve formative and summative assessments and align them with standards, teaching for mastery of those standards.
    3. Re-teach and re-assess students until they reach mastery on the standards.

    Science Goal:  Improve MAP science scores for 8th graders at Ozark Junior High to exceed our 2016 scores, reaching 65% proficient and advanced.

    Action Steps

    1. Align units, instruction, and assessment with new Missouri Learning Expectations.
    2. Increase cognitive engagement in the classroom through hands-on lessons that put students in the role of scientists.
    3. Continue to emphasize reading and writing skills while learning to apply them in science.
    4. Increase students' abilities to recognize themselves as scientists; observing and inquiring about the world around them.

    2. Use entry and exit exam data to drive instruction and provide differentiated learning opportunities to students.
    3. Improve our engagement and critical thinking in Social Studies by implementing research-based instruction and projects which utilize all components of geography.
    4. Improve differentiated instruction through technology by utilizing 1:1 laptops and implementing Project-Based Learning

    Attendance Goal:  Reach 96% overall attendance and improve our 95.36% 90/90 attendance rate of 2015-2016.

    Action Steps

    1. Identify students early and often who have attendance concerns.
    2. Contact parents for every absence.
    3. Initiate interventions as soon as students show signs of having their 90/90 attendance in jeopardy.
    4. Develop individualized attendance plans for some students.
    5. Continue incentives and rewards for excellent attendance and improvement.

    CSIP Goal 5:  Parent and Community Involvement–Promote, facilitate and enhance parent, student and community involvement in the LEA/District educational programs.

     

    MSIP 5 Status Goal:  Secure Maximum Status Points on all MSIP 5 Standards.

    Action Steps

    1. Implement ELA and math goals listed above.
    2. The STAT team will provide targeted interventions to students showing needs early in the school year and maintain throughout.
    3. Assigning STOMP after-school tutoring from the beginning of the year for students scoring poorly on the spring 2016 MAP.
    4. Implement more intensive tier 2 and 3 interventions during Tiger Focus and after school for students showing signs of need.

    6-7 Transition Goal:  Implement a successful Ozark Middle School 6th and 7th grade school as evidenced through 75% satisfied or above scores on end-of-year teacher, student, and parent surveys.

    Action Steps

    1. Seek monthly feedback on our procedures through a Principal’s Advisory meeting.
    2. Gather feedback from teachers, staff, parents, and students through surveys on satisfaction and programming.
    3. Implement and follow our district mission and belief statements with our collaboratively developed Ozark Middle School Belief Statements.
