Your son/daughter made application and has been approved to participate in Cardio-Club this year. The program will start January 20th and culminate April 8th. We will follow a Monday, Wednesday, Friday schedule for the program. Tuesday and Thursday will be off days in the schedule.

The program will start at 7:00 a.m. and end at 7:30 a.m.  Parents and guardians, please make arrangements to drop your son/daughter off in back of the school between 6:55 a.m. and 7:00 a.m.  The doors will open at 6:55 a.m. for students to enter and close at 7:00 a.m.  After 7:00 a.m., bus traffic in the back of the school will become heavy.  We also request that you drop your child off at the road on the sidewalk so we can keep the entrance to the parking lot clear. Staff members will need access to the parking area during drop-off time so they can report to work without being late. We respectfully request strict adherence to the drop off schedule in order to avoid safety concerns and inconvenience for yourself and others.

Regular attendance is essential for students to gain the health benefit of the program. In the event of a late school start, or cancellation of school due to in-climate weather, Cardio-Club will be cancelled.

Cardio-Club’s focus will be on improving the cardiovascular fitness of 5th and 6th grade students.   This will be a great way for students to start their day.  We created a spreadsheet that translates the paces students run in the gym into miles. We will track individual and group mileage throughout the program so students will know what they have accomplished. While emphasis for the program will be running using the pacer test as the medium for measuring performance, we will also periodically introduce games and other activities to get students moving.

Students participating in Cardio-Club should understand the primary purpose of the program is to increase their cardiovascular fitness. The program will end April 8th, 2016. The PTA will be hosting their annual Tiger Streak 5K run on Saturday, April 9th which will be the culminating event for the program.  Students will be encouraged to enter this fun run that includes color.

The program is free.  A t-shirt will be provided to students participating in the program. We will need student t-shirt sizes as soon as possible so can order the shirts.  Please return the bottom portion of this handout indicating your t-shirt size by January 29th. We will place the order February 1st so it is imperative to return the t-shirt form on time.

    Thank you.

Cut along the dotted line and return the signed permission slip to your P.E. teacher by January 29th.
