Ozark Middle School Storm Shelter

  • The storm shelter at Ozark Middle School will be located in the courtyard where the current gazebo is, and will serve as additional classrooms

    • As this facility nears capacity, adding 6-8 classrooms allows us to maximize its use
    • The Middle School storm shelter will be the first project to move dirt, with plans to begin this summer when students are not in the building
    • The exterior of the storm shelter should be complete before the 2023/24 school year begins; the interior classrooms plan to be open for the 2024/25 school year
    • We also plan to reconstruct the Middle School entrance
    • The new entrance and visitor parking lot will be located on the southeast corner of the building where part of the playground currently is
    • The entrance will help with traffic flow for visitors in the building

OMS Storm shelter graphic

  • This video is from tornado drills at OMS and East Elementary during the spring of 2022. Safety continues to be a top priority for Ozark School District and our families, which is why we placed the $19 Million No Tax Increase Bond Issue on the April 5, 2022 ballot. With voter approval, this bond will allow us to add storm shelters to Tiger Paw, OHS & OMS. The storm shelter at OMS will also be used as classroom space, similar to East Elementary!
